Conflict of Interest Policy

Law Elite Network both publishes independent legal commentary and connects readers with lawyers for hire through our directory and appointments features. Operating both a media outlet and a referral service creates conflict-of-interest risks that we manage explicitly, rather than leave unaddressed.
Separating Editorial and Commercial Judgment
Referral and matching arrangements with listed lawyers are commercial relationships, disclosed in our Affiliate Disclosure. They are kept separate from editorial judgments about legal topics, which are governed by our Editorial Standards. A lawyer's participation in our referral network does not entitle them to favorable coverage, and a lawyer's absence from the network does not result in unfavorable treatment in our editorial content.
Personal Disclosure by Writers and Reviewers
Writers and reviewers are expected to disclose personal ties to the legal industry that are relevant to what they cover — for example, a financial interest in a law firm, a close family relationship with a practicing attorney in a practice area they are writing about, or any compensation received from a firm discussed in an article. Where a relevant tie exists, we either disclose it alongside the content, reassign the coverage to another editor, or both, depending on the severity of the relationship.
Referral Arrangements Do Not Buy Coverage
No referral fee, advertising spend, or directory placement fee entitles a lawyer or firm to editorial coverage, a "Verified" designation, or favorable mention in an article. Verified status reflects a separate credentialing check described in our Editorial Standards, and editorial coverage decisions are made without regard to a firm's commercial relationship with us.
Undisclosed Conflicts
An undisclosed conflict of interest — whether involving a writer, an editor, or a commercial partnership that improperly influenced content — is grounds for a review of the affected content under our Corrections process, and may result in relabeling, correction, or removal of the material. If you believe a conflict has gone undisclosed, report it to corrections@lawelitenetwork.com.
